In a remarkable act of generosity, the Honorable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, CFA through the VIO foundation Initiative, has distributed over 5,000 bags of rice to various groups in Imo State, showcasing a commitment to community welfare. The event, held in the capital city of Imo State, Owerri, attracted representatives from religious organizations, the Imo All Progressive Congress Party APC, student bodies, tribal associations, entrepreneurial networks, and groups advocating for the physically challenged, among others.
The initiative, in the spirit of Christmas and New Year celebration, aimed at alleviating hunger, was described as a response to the economic challenges faced by many citizens. The Minister, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable groups, especially during tough economic times.
“This is not just about providing food; it’s about showing solidarity and ensuring that no one is left behind,” the Minister stated during the distribution ceremony. “We recognize the challenges faced by various groups in our society, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains committed to policies and programs that uplift every citizen, and we are beginning to see the dawn.”
In her address, she commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for trusting her in his ministerial cabinet and praised Governor Uzodimma for all his supports to her.
Recipients expressed gratitude for the gesture, highlighting its timely intervention in addressing the rising cost of living.
Leaders of student unions noted that the assistance would significantly ease the burden on many students struggling to make ends meet.
Similarly, representatives of entrepreneurial groups commended the Minister for recognizing their efforts and providing support during a period of economic uncertainty.
Many have applauded the Minister’s generosity, urging other government officials to emulate such initiatives.
