Mazi Ejimofor Opara Blasts Valentine Ozigbo for Politicizing Insecurity in Anambra

In a strongly worded statement, Mazi Ejimofor Opara has condemned Valentine Ozigbo for politicizing the issue of insecurity in Anambra State, describing his recent remarks as “desperate” and “opportunistic.”

Opara accused Ozigbo of using insecurity to gain political mileage ahead of the 2025 governorship election, rather than offering constructive solutions to the challenges faced by the state. According to him, Ozigbo’s criticism of the Soludo administration’s approach to insecurity is hypocritical and self-serving.

“Ozigbo’s statements reek of desperation. Instead of engaging in meaningful dialogue or proposing concrete solutions, he resorts to political grandstanding and finger-pointing to gain cheap popularity,” Opara said.

He further questioned Ozigbo’s alliance with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, labeling it a move driven by personal ambition rather than genuine concern for the people of Anambra. Opara criticized the priest’s involvement in politics, describing it as unbecoming of his ecclesiastical role.

“Valentine Ozigbo’s alignment with Fr. Ebube Muonso raises questions about his motives. Their alliance appears to be more about furthering a political agenda than addressing the security concerns of Anambra State,” Opara added.

Opara argued that such opportunistic behavior only serves to polarize the state and undermine ongoing efforts to address security challenges. He emphasized that Anambra needs visionary leaders who prioritize the welfare of the people above political ambitions.

“This election year will undoubtedly see more of such desperate antics from politicians who have nothing meaningful to campaign with,” Opara noted. “But Anambra deserves better—leaders who are sincere, constructive, and genuinely committed to the progress of the state.”
