Tragedy struck in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State as a 23-year-old man, identified as Success, allegedly hacked his father to death with a cutlass over a dispute involving N5000.
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in the Amukpe area of Sapele. According to reports, the father had refused to give the suspect the requested sum, prompting the brutal attack.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries on Monday, January 13.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, who revealed that the suspect has been arrested. “The incident occurred on Sunday, but the father died Monday. Success is in custody,” Edafe stated.
This shocking act of violence has left the community in mourning, with residents expressing disbelief over the tragic loss of life caused by what they described as a minor financial dispute.
The police have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and the suspect will face the full weight of the law.
