A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has sentenced 23-year-old Odeyemi Oluwaseun to one year imprisonment for internet fraud and obtaining money under false pretenses.
The self-styled spiritualist was prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on two counts of fra¥d and impersonation.
According to the charges, Oluwaseun impersonated a female spiritualist using the alias “Lord Hill” and an Instagram account, “_Visions_by_Tendo_12.” He dishonestly induced two victims to send gift cards worth $7,700 in exchange for purported spiritual services to restore their romantic relationships.
One count detailed how Oluwaseun convinced a victim, Bose, to send $3,200 worth of gift cards, claiming he could “diabolically influence” her ex-husband to return. Similarly, another victim, Schneider Alina, was deceived into sending $4,500 for the same false promise.
Oluwaseun pleaded guilty to the charges, leading to the prosecution presenting evidence, including his confessional statements, $1,000 cash, an iPhone 15, and a 2008 Toyota Camry recovered from him.
Presiding Judge Justice Abdulgafar sentenced him to six months’ suspended imprisonment on each count and ordered the forfeiture of his recovered assets to the federal government.
The convict, who hails from Oyo State, used fake online profiles to exploit emotionally vulnerable victims, presenting himself as a spiritualist capable of solving personal issues.
