The Almajiri system in Nigeria, which involves children begging on the streets for survival, poses a significant threat to national security.
With an estimated 14 million out-of-school children, many are vulnerable to recruitment by extremist groups due to their lack of education and dire economic conditions.
While speaking on the menace, Bashir El-Rufai took to his social media handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, to clamour for its abolishment.
Posting on X, the son of ex-Governor of Kaduna state, wrote, “The entire Almajiri system should be abolished completely.”
