28 KWASU Lectures Achieve Professional Ranks

The Governing Council of Kwara State University, Malete, has approved the promotion of three lecturers to the rank of professor, while 25 others were promoted to associate professor.

The council ratified the promotion at its 73rd meeting on Thursday, according to a statement by the Acting Director, University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu.

Aliyu said the newly promoted professors are from the faculties of Agriculture, Arts, and Education.

“The statement said the new Professors are Professor Shehu Salau, whose specialisation is Agricultural Production Economics, Professor Moshood Zakariyah with a specialisation in Sociolinguistics, and Professor Olayiwola Olorisade, a professor of Educational Administration.

The associate professors are from the faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Law, Management and Social Sciences, and Pure and Applied Sciences.

The statement added, “The Faculty of Agriculture has Latifat Olatinwo and Felicia Olooto, both Agric Extension and Rural Development specialists; Dr. Olarinke Adeniyi, a specialist in Aquaculture Management; Adebayo Ojo with specialisation in Entomology; and Dr. Akeem Raji, a specialist in Food Processing Technology.

“From the Faculty of Arts, Yahya Muritala, an Arabic Syntax and Modern Arabic Linguistics and Translation specialist; Yunusa Jamiu, a Modern Arabic Literature specialist; Oluwatayo Adeoti, a Pragmatics and Discourse Studies specialist; Sherifat Hussain-Abubakar, a specialist in Islamic Family Law and Gender Studies; and Dr. Khalid Bello, a specialist in Islamic Economics were ratified as associate professors.

The Faculty of Engineering produced Olalekan Ogunbiyi with specialization in Power System and Automatic Control Engineering; Rasheed Amao Busari with specialization in Farm Power and Machinery, and Olufemi Oladosu, a specialist in Production and Renewable Energy as associate professors.

“Usman Saadu of the Faculty of Education, who specialises in Educational Psychology and Ronke Babatunde of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, who specialises in Machine Learning and AI, were confirmed by the Governing Council as associate professors.”

The statement noted that Olariyike Akintoye and Abdullahi Ishola, both of the Faculty of Law, and with specialisation in Property and Business Law, and Islamic Law, respectively, were also confirmed as associate professors.

The statement said the council equally ratified the promotion of Abdullahi Alabi, a Comparative Politics and Administration specialist; Idris Mohammed, a Development Studies and Local Government Administration specialist; and Ibrahim Salawu, a Public Policy and Governance specialist to the rank of associate professor.

“At the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science, Anyachukwu Irondi, a Food and Nutritional Biochemistry specialist; Dr. Abdulazeez Jimoh, a Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics specialist; Kazeem Issa with specialisation in Numerical Analysis; Dr. Wasiu Yahya, a Theoretical and Computational Physics specialist; and Abiodun Obembe, specialisation in Entomology were approved as promoted to the rank of associate Professor,” it added.
