The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has dismissed a petition against the Managing Director (MD) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko over alleged N178 billion provided for bad debt in the audited financial statement of the NPA in 2019.
The petition was dismissed by the committee when the petitioner failed to appear at the resumed hearing on the case yesterday.
The chairman of the committee, Rep. Mike Etaba, said the petitioner had failed to honour the committee’s invitation for six consecutive times to prove his case.
He said, “This is the sixth time and the petitioner has not been in this place. The case is hereby dismissed.”
It could be recalled that, the ‘Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations in Nigeria’ had petitioned the House against the NPA and Koko on the issue.
The forum had asked the House to invite the NPA’s MD, and its management to explain how the debt grew from N135 billion to N178 billion in 2018.
