The Ìgwè elect of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu, Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna, has urged Muslims worldwide to use this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration to seek closeness with Allah through acts of worship and self-discipline.

Chief Ogbonna made this known on Tuesday through his Salah message sent to newsmen in commemoration of this year’s Eid al-Fitr.

He stated that the feast is not only for celebration but also an opportunity to contemplate the importance of peaceful coexistence, love, and unity as Nigerians in the quest for nation-building.

Using excerpts from Surah Al-Imran 3:103, Chief Ogbonna called for divine guidance and unity as one Ummah, transcending differences and divisions, thus working together towards common goals of peace, prosperity, and justice.

He, however, called for remembrance of the true essence of the sacred feast, which is on gratitude, charity, forgiveness, love, and unity as they are the core yardstick to strengthening brotherhood and sisterhood within the nation.

The statement reads…

“Eid Mubarak to all Muslims!

This occasion marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection, during which we have sought closeness to Allah through acts of worship and self-discipline.

In the Quran, Allah says: ‘So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.’ (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152) Let us heed this divine call and express gratitude for the countless blessings in our lives, including the strength and perseverance to observe Ramadan with sincerity and devotion.

Eid al-Fitr is not only a time of celebration but also a period of reflection. Let us take this opportunity to contemplate the importance of peaceful coexistence, love, and unity in our communities and nations. Peaceful coexistence serves as the foundation for societal harmony and progress, fostering an environment where individuals of diverse backgrounds can thrive and contribute positively to nation-building.

In the Quran, Allah reminds us: ‘And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.’ (Surah Al-Imran 3:103) Let us heed this divine guidance and unite as one Ummah, transcending differences and divisions, and working together towards common goals of peace, prosperity, and justice.

As Muslims, we are called upon to be ambassadors of compassion and tolerance, spreading love and understanding in our interactions with others. Let us embrace forgiveness and reconciliation, setting aside grievances and animosities, and building bridges of friendship and cooperation with our fellow human beings.
