Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has expressed his shock and sadness over the attack on soldiers in Abia State, which resulted in the death of five soldiers. He described the act as “dastardly” and “condemnable”, and extended his condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, and the people of the state.
Obi lamented the escalating insecurity and violence in the country, which he attributed to the failure of the Nigerian state to protect its citizens and security personnel. He demanded swift and decisive action to address the situation, rather than mere words and promises.
He called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident to identify and punish the culprits, emphasizing that the nation cannot afford to stand idly by while violence and fear tear it apart.
