IGP, Egbetokun Decries High Level of Unprofessional Conduct Among Personnel

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has lamented the rising cases of indiscipline, high-handedness, and unprofessional conduct among some police personnel in Nigeria. Egbetokun, while addressing AC X Squad Commanders and others at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, emphasized the need for adherence to the discipline and core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

Galaxy TV reports that the Police Boss informed the officers that the Nigeria Police Force cannot maintain its professional status and pivotal role in the country’s internal security without the dedication and commitment of the officers in their respective offices.

He maintained that one of the core mandates of this administration is to bridge the trust deficit between the government and the public. Over the years, it has been discovered that the conduct of some officers has deviated from the expectations of the force leadership.

Egbetokun lamented that officers, who are supposed to uphold the value of integrity upon which the society places higher moral expectations, are frequently seen breaching the trust placed in them by the public. The Inspector General of Police directed officers to ensure prompt dispensation of justice and implement measures to curb excessiveness, high-handedness, unprofessionalism, and other vices among police personnel across the country.
