OCHA Brigade Raids Fake Drug Factory

No fewer than six people have been arrested by the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) for operating a fake drug production factory.

This follows a raid on their factory in Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area, where the factory owner, Mrs. Chinwedu Chukwurah, was also apprehended.

According to Comrade Celestine Anere, the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, the agency stumbled upon the fake drug factory during their daily routine.

Mrs. Chukwurah was arrested for manufacturing, packaging, distributing, and selling a range of substandard and counterfeit paracetamol and flagyl products.

OCHA Brigade also discovered that the company had been operating for years, selling counterfeit drugs across the state.

Consequently, the State Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has commenced investigations into the drugs and the factory’s license.

Comrade Anere also stated that the facility has been sealed off until further notice.

He further revealed that the agency had arrested individuals for constructing culverts without approval and supervision from the state ministry of works, consequently destroying newly constructed roads and drainages.

In a related development, the enforcement team of the command sealed off a building constructed on waterways at Bishop Plaza Marine Modern Market, Onitsha, and arrested individuals for trespassing into sealed premises on Niger Street, Onitsha.

This operation underscores the effective leadership and commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in tackling public health threats and ensuring the safety of Anambra State residents.
