The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that the monthly clean-up exercise for June will hold on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 7am to 10am.
According to a statement signed by Andreas Gebauer, Special Adviser to the Governor on Wastes, the exercise will involve the prohibition of movement of people and vehicles, except for those on essential services who must provide a valid means of identification or an ESWAMA official pass.
The authority warned that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted at the environmental mobile court of law. Sporting activities around Okpara Square and other locations within the metropolis have also been advised to be postponed until after the clean-up exercise.
ESWAMA appealed to the public to properly bag their wastes before disposal and ensure they pay their ESWAMA bills at any commercial bank closer to them.
