Pastor Ebuka Obi’s Plan for a Long-Distance Marriage

Renowned Clergyman Ebuka Obi has sent shockwaves through the spiritual community with his unconventional views on marriage and family. In a recent sermon, the founder of the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Church revealed that he intends to practice a “distant marriage” when he finally ties the knot.

According to Obi, he would prefer to live apart from his wife, allowing them to maintain their independence and pursue their individual passions. He provided a vivid illustration, suggesting that his wife might reside in Enugu State while he oversees the church’s affairs in Lagos State, or perhaps she might live in Canada while he stays in Nigeria.

However, this arrangement won’t mean a lack of quality time together. Obi plans to regularly fly to visit his wife and also welcome her whenever she wants to join him.

His reasoning behind this unusual approach is rooted in his conviction that being a servant of God requires him to be fully devoted to his work.

As he put it, “I’m often a different human being when I’m having an encounter with God. I’m not the same person who can balance family life and ministry.”

He shared an anecdote about his mother, encouraging his congregation to ask her about his eyes when he’s speaking with the Holy Spirit – implying that his experiences with God transform him in ways that would be challenging for him to reconcile with daily life as a husband and father.

While this unconventional approach may raise eyebrows, it’s clear that Obi’s priority lies with serving God and fulfilling his divine calling. As he continues to inspire and guide his followers, it will be fascinating to see how this vision of distant marriage plays out in the future
