Akweke Dr Francis Okoye, a member of the APC 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and convener of the Coalition of South East APC Support Groups, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development.
According to Dr Okoye, the establishment of the ministry is a laudable step towards addressing the incessant clashes between herders and farmers in the country. He noted that the move has given hope to Nigerians and will help improve productivity in the livestock sector, as well as enhance agricultural production under the Food Sustainability programme of the Tinubu administration.
Dr Okoye described the establishment of the ministry as the “best thing that has happened to Nigeria in recent times”. He commended President Tinubu for listening to the demands of the people and taking proactive steps to address the herder-farmer conflicts.
The APC chieftain expressed optimism that the ministry will help resolve the regular conflicts between herdsmen and farmers, improve productivity in the livestock sector, and enhance agricultural production.
