Iwuanyanwu: Ohuabunwa weeps, describes Ohanaeze President-General’s death as a monumental loss

A Presidential Aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, in the 2023 general elections, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has mourned the Late Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, saying his death was a monumental loss to both Ndigbo and the nation.

He described Iwuanyanwu as a selfless leader who stood for equity, justice and peaceful co-existence saying, “His life and works will remain an inspiration to present and forthcoming generations on the lessons of tolerance and unity.”

The former President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria said this in a statement, on Thursday night, a copy of which was obtained by our Correspondent.

The statement read, “My team members at the Ohanaeze Council of Igbo Business Leaders and I are greatly pained by the sad news of the passage to the great beyond of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo)
today, July 24, 2024. We have not just lost a trusted and dependable ally, a good friend, a true patriot, and a highly esteemed Elder Statesman.

“Chief Iwuanyanwu was an exemplary, unpretentious and self-effacing leader; and a first-class gentleman and business mogul.

“He is a thorough bred leader and Publisher, who out of a firm commitment and in tandem with his Compatriots, maintained our common stance on the fundamental principles of equity, justice and fairness, and inclusivity, in the quest for a better Alaigbo and Nigeria.

“He was a man of peace who will be remembered for his candor, open-mindedness and civility. His life and works will remain an inspiration to present and forthcoming generations on the lessons of tolerance, unity and peaceful co-existence”.

He added, “Chief Iwuanyanwu, who was until his emergence as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide was Chairman of Council of Elders of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, and he taught all of us how to lead selflessly, patriotically and humbly.

“His death is a monumental loss not just to the Igbo Nation but to the entire Country. Nigeria has, indeed, lost a true selfless, patriotic leader and an exceptional a visionary statesman.

“Though death is a necessary end, it is saddening that Chief Iwuanyanwu (the Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo) departed at a time when Nigeria was in dire need of patriots and leaders like him as the country struggles with various internal conflicts and traverses a debilitating phase in its history.”
