A former member of the House of Representatives, Sergius Ogun, has disclosed that the monthly running cost for members of the National Assembly (NASS) was N8.5 million as of 2023.
Ogun, who spoke in a recent interview, revealed that the allowance covers various expenses, including newspaper allowance, fuel allowance, maintenance, and constituency mobilization.
He justified the high allowance, stating that it’s unreasonable to expect a senator to attend a state-sponsored event abroad on an economy ticket when an assistant director in the civil service travels on business class for official assignments.
