Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lago, on Monday hosted Akinwunmi Ambode, his predecessor, at the government house in Alausa, Ikeja.
In a post on his X account, Sanwo-Olu said he and Ambode discussed “the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place”.
“Today, I welcomed my brother and predecessor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, back to Lagos House on a courtesy visit,” the governor wrote.
“Our conversation centred around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development.”
Ambode, who governed Lagos from 2015 to 2019, was the first governor of the state to serve just one term since the return of democracy in 1999.
The courtesy visit was the first time Ambode had publicly met Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos government house since he became governor in 2019.
In June 2023, Sanwo-Olu attended the private party hosted to celebrate Ambode’s 60th birthday at the former governor’s residence.
Earlier this year, Ambode was also present at the wedding of Sanwo-Olu’s daughter in Lagos.
