The Council of State convened today at the State House Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja, with former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari present. General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) and General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) attended virtually, alongside Governors from Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom States.
Chaired by the President and Vice President, the Council includes all living former Heads of State, former Chief Justices, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, all state governors, and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
This advisory body discussed policy-making issues and passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu.
The previous meeting held on February 10, 2023, focused on the 2023 elections, the new Naira policy, and fuel scarcity.
