The University of Port Harcourt has denied reports that it charges final-year students a clearance fee of N649,400, calling the information false and misleading.

In a statement issued by Dr. Sam Kpenu, Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations at UNIPORT, the university clarified that the claim circulated by an online media platform is inaccurate.

Kpenu emphasized that UNIPORT’s fees are among the lowest compared to other federal universities, and the institution provides scholarships for students facing financial difficulties. He also noted that the university extends payment deadlines to accommodate students’ financial planning and denied the existence of ‘medical clearance’ or ‘admissibility fees’ as alleged.

The statement urged students and the public to rely on official communications from the university for accurate information on fees and financial matters.
