Former Minister, Chris Ngige Questioned By ICPC Over NSITF Probe

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has invited former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). Ngige, who supervised the agency during his tenure as minister, honored the invitation and underwent the first leg of the interview session with the ICPC’s team of interrogators.

The invitation is linked to the alleged misappropriation of N48 billion at NSITF, which Ngige himself exposed in 2020 while appearing before the House of Representatives. He had accused the suspended management of NSITF of diverting funds through fake contracts, irregular payments, and unapproved legal fees.

The ICPC’s investigation is part of a broader probe into financial irregularities at NSITF, which has already led to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charging the agency’s management with corruption.
