Anambra State Government Cracks Down on Unaccredited Schools, Threatens Sanctions

The Anambra State Government has vowed to take action against approximately 2000 unaccredited and unapproved schools operating in the state. Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has emphasized the importance of quality education, and the presence of these unauthorized schools is seen as a hindrance to this goal.

According to Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu PhD, the government has directed the affected schools to obtain necessary accreditation and registration from the Ministry of Education before the resumption of schools. Failure to comply will result in severe sanctions.

The government aims to ensure that all children in Anambra State have access to a quality learning environment, teachers, and curriculum. A list of approved schools will be made available to Local Government Education Departments to facilitate easy identification.

This move is part of the state government’s efforts to prioritize education and maintain standards in the sector. School owners and operators are advised to take immediate action to avoid facing penalties.
