APGA Sweeps All 21 LGAs In Anambra LG Council Poll

Election

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has swept all the councillorship and chairmanship positions in Anambra State Local Government Council election held on Saturday.

The Chief Electoral Officer and Chairman, Anambra State Independent Electorial Commission (ANSIEC), Mrs Genevieve Osakwe announced the results on Sunday night at the Commission’s office in Awka.

She said APGA secured 325 out of 326 wards in the state because Oyi which have 15 wards, could only get 14 wards results on the grounds that the Presiding Officer was unsure of the figures, that will be rectified later.

Barr Osakwe noted that the party also won all the 21 Chairmanship positions across the 21 local government areas of the state.

She maintained that the exercise is to reaffirm the results earlier announced on Saturday at ward and local government levels, during which all the political parties knew the scores they had.

“There is no local government that election did not hold. ANSIEC was on top of the situation. We have presence of security agencies all over the state. We believe the election was free, fair and credible.”
