Anambra State Government Approves Major Infrastructure Projects

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved contracts for the reconstruction of the Oduigbo Market in Onitsha and the rehabilitation of several major roads in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD, the reconstruction of the Oduigbo Market is part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Urban Renewal initiative. The project, valued at N475,776,756.20, is expected to be completed within three months.

In addition to the market reconstruction, ANSEC also approved the rehabilitation of several roads, including the Nnewi to Oba Road, Nkpor to Obosi Road, and Nteje to Otuocha Road. The projects aim to ensure smooth movement of people and goods, especially during the rainy season.

The Nnewi to Oba Road rehabilitation project was awarded through direct procurement at a cost of N131,343,612.28. The Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) will directly oversee the rehabilitation of the Nkpor to Obosi Road and Nteje to Otuocha Road, valued at N63,193,633.14 and N50,440,849.73, respectively.

Governor Soludo’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development as a key component of its economic transformation agenda. These projects demonstrate the state government’s commitment to improving the lives of Anambra citizens and enhancing the state’s economic competitiveness.
