Commercial mini-bus drivers on Wednesday morning took to the streets of Rumuola in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital, in protest over excessive ticketing fees imposed by the Obio/Akpor local government area Task Force.

The bus drivers who used their buses to obstruct moving vehicles along the busy Rumuola road, ensured residents rushing to work had to turn back as a result of their presence on the road.

Despite the presence of the Task Force chairman and his team who mandated every bus driver to pay the sum of five hundred naira against the two hundred naira old fee , the drivers ensured that members of the Task Force were chased away while the protest lasted.

When contacted on the public disturbance the protest might lead to, the Rivers state police command spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko said policemen from the Rumuola division have been informed to disperse the protesters for it not to be hijacked by hoodlums.

As at the time of filing this report by our correspondent, the bus drivers were still on the road saying they will not relent until the Task Force is called to order.
