#EndBadGovernment: AGF takes over the case of protesters arraigned in court yesterday

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) has directed the Nigeria Police to transfer the casefile of endbad governance violent protest suspects to his office and hand over same to the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) today, Saturday 2nd November, 2024.

Recall that the arraignment of some minors among the #EndBadGovernment protesters yesterday at a Federal High Court in Abuja, has sparked off criticism and outrage.

The directive by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) was contained in a press statement signed by the Attorney General of itself and made available to Our Correspondent.

According to Prince Fagbemi (SAN), further directed the DPPF to immediately put machinery in motion for consideration of the court to bring the adjournment date forward (an earlier date).

He disclosed that it has come to his notice that the court has remanded the defendants in detention centres and adjourned the case to January, but It is not within his power to vary the order of the court remanding the defendants in detention centres and adjourning the case to January.

Fagbemi revealed that there are some issues his office need to look into regarding the matter for an informed decision to be taken.
