The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon. Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has died.

According to a report by THISDAY, a reliable source, who wishes to remain anonymous, confirmed the news in Ado Ekiti.

The source revealed that Justice Adeyeye passed away in the early hours of today.

The  newspaper further stated that Justice Adeyeye had been in poor health since July 12, 2023, following serious injuries sustained when a portion of the state high court complex wall collapsed on him in his office in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

While no official statement has been released regarding his death, the regional chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has offered condolences to his family.

The condolence message reads: “With deep sorrow in our hearts and total submission to the will of God, FIDA Ekiti extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Hon. Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on his passing.

“May he find eternal rest with his Maker.

“We pray that God grants the family, the judiciary, and the people of Ekiti State the strength to bear this profound loss. Adieu, great one.”

When contacted for confirmation, Oyinade Olatunbosun, the Ekiti state Chairperson of FIDA, assured our Correspondent that she would issue a signed statement soon.

Justice Adeyeye was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area. He was called to the bar in 1986. He began his career as a state counsel in the civil service of the old Ondo State before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission shortly after Ekiti was established in 1996.

He became a judge on the Ekiti State High Court in 2002 and served at different times on the election petition tribunal..
