A powerful explosion rocked the city of Jos, the capital of Plateau State, on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through the densely populated Terminus market area. The blast occurred around 10am, triggering widespread panic as residents and traders fled the scene.

Sources from the town confirmed the explosion and reported that several people have been injured, though the exact number of casualties remains unclear. There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that fatalities may have occurred.

“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying,” said Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor who witnessed the incident.

In response to the explosion, security agencies, including the police, fire department, and ambulance teams, quickly arrived at the scene to provide rescue operations. The affected area has been cordoned off as investigators begin to assess the damage and determine the cause of the blast.

A source at the police command headquarters in Jos confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure their safety. “We urge calm and assure the public that we will do everything possible to ensure their safety,” the source added.
