Customs Intercepts Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol worth ₦117m in Ogun

The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command says it has intercepted Cannabis Sativa and Tramadol worth N117, 587,405 from border areas across the state. The Area Controller, Comptroller James Ojo, disclosed this during a media briefing on the interception and handing over of the contraband to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday.

Galaxy Television reports that the contraband are Cannabis Sativa, 5,256 coconut size wraps valued at N46,981,742, Cannabis Sativa 46 book size wraps valued at N411,179, 1,202 bread size wraps, valued at N10,744,302 and 403 sacks valued at N16, 010, 182.

The Comptroller said the contraband was seized at the Agbawo/Igankoto area of Yewa North Local Government Area, and the Imeko Afon axis, among others. The Comptroller maintained the successful interception of these substances shows the command’s unwavering dedication to safeguard and mitigate the risks it poses on youth, families, and communities.

Receiving the exhibits, Olusegun Adeyeye, Commander NDLEA, Idiroko Special Command, applauded the Customs Area command for thief doggedness, efforts and contributions in fight against illicit drugs. Adeyeye stated that the seizure is a testament that NDLEA and Customs are synergizing on fight against drug abuse.
