In a bid to curb the proliferation of illegal arms, ammunition, child trafficking and other illegal acts through its border towns Oyo State government has pledged to reward security personnel and citizens who help apprehend perpetrators of such dastardly act.
The Special Adviser to the state governor on Home land Security, Retired Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration (ACG), Segun Adegoke stated this when he led a security committee on a sensitization tour of the state’s border towns.
Adejoke said based on Security reports, and the interception of some trucks filled with arms and ammunition, the state governor Engineer Seyi Makinde mandated a security committee to visit and inform the border communities in the state on measures taken to stem
the illegal acts.
He stress the purpose of the visit was to sensitize and educate relevant security stakeholders within the border towns on the dangers of possession of illegal arms and migration of irregular foreigners, as they pose security threats to lives and property.
