Frontline APGA aspirant for the vacant Anambra South Senatorial District seat, Chief (Dr) Ebuka Onunkwo (CEO SEAHORSE LUBRICANT INDUSTRIES LTD), has tasked the youths of Anambra State on the importance of making deliberate efforts at self development and skill acquisition.
Chief Onunkwo made the call yesterday at the international conference centre, Awka, during the second edition of the Anambra Youth Conference.
Speaking during the event, Chief Onunkwo commended Anambra youths for their participation in the activities of the solution government and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to building the state of their dreams.
While announcing the donation of #10 million Naira scholarship fund that will cover school fees for academically gifted but underprivileged youths, Chief Onunkwo charged the youths to embrace hard work and self-belief, saying that his life story is a pointer that anybody can be successful in life with hard work and prayers.
Speaking during the event, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, challenged the youths to take an active role in addressing societal challenges, roles that ensure they are the solution rather than the problem of the society.
Governor Soludo, who emphasized the need for youths to reorient their values and engage in productive activities, also cited the “One Youth Two Skills” empowerment program which aims to equip youths with skills and provide them with grants as one of the numerous means through which his administration is addressing the challenges facing the youths.
The renowned philanthropist, Chief (Dr) Ebuka Onunkwo, who also donated ₦5 million to support the organisers of the conference, announced automatic employment opportunities for ten accounting graduates in his company, the seahorse lubricant industries Ltd.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba, reported that the “One Youth Two Skills” empowerment initiative is on track. The programme is part of the state’s efforts to prioritize youth development and provide opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Chief Onunkwo commended Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership and commitment to transformative governance in Anambra State. He urged Anambra youths to take advantage of the state government’s youth-friendly initiatives and re-dedicate themselves to self-development.
The Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, praised Chief Onunkwo’s philanthropic efforts and urged the youths to seize the opportunities provided by the state government to develop themselves.
Chief Onunkwo’s contributions to education and youth development over the years have become a recurrent factor. With over 500 Anambra youths benefiting from his scholarship program, he has established himself as a champion of education and youth empowerment.
