Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent announcement during the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that the party is open to forming alliances with other political parties has been met with widespread approval from party faithful and stakeholders.
Describing the move as a “step in the right direction,” Soludo emphasized that such alliances would strengthen APGA’s position in Nigeria’s political landscape, enabling the party to grow and achieve its goals.
Party supporters have lauded the declaration as a strategic and visionary approach to enhancing APGA’s influence. Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, expressed optimism about the development, stating, “Governor Soludo’s leadership is a game-changer for APGA. His open-mindedness and focus on what benefits the party demonstrate his commitment to its growth.”
Soludo’s reputation for good governance, as evidenced in his transformation of Anambra State, was highlighted as a key bargaining chip in future alliances. Obigwe noted that Anambra’s achievements under Soludo’s leadership make APGA an attractive partner for collaboration with other political parties.
Unlike past alliances, such as the controversial one led by former Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha, which resulted in APGA losing the state to the APC, Soludo’s leadership is expected to prioritize mutually beneficial partnerships that will solidify APGA’s standing.
The Governor’s openness to alliances is further buoyed by recent federal appointments of APGA members, including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Managing Director of the Southeast Development Commission. These appointments, Obigwe noted, signify the APC-led federal government’s readiness to work with APGA, potentially paving the way for a formal alliance.
As APGA faithful rally behind Soludo’s vision, the party’s potential alliances could mark a turning point, ushering in a new era of growth and national relevance.
