State House Allocates just N15 Billion for Vehicle Purchases and Office Construction

The State House has earmarked N15.09 billion for the acquisition of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, operational cars, and the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

Additionally, a provision of N5.49 billion has been proposed for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa. These details were revealed in the newly released 2025 Appropriation Bill by the Budget Office of the Federation.

President Bola Tinubu presented the budget, titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” to a joint session of the National Assembly, outlining an ambitious N49.70 trillion spending plan. The budget emphasizes defense, infrastructure, and human capital development, projecting a deficit of N13.39 trillion to be financed through borrowing.

In his address, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing security and improving the nation’s infrastructure.

According to the appropriation bill, the State House will allocate N164 million specifically for tyres for various vehicles, including bulletproof cars, SUVs, and operational vehicles. This includes N1.1 billion for replacing SUVs and N3.66 billion for operational vehicles.

Furthermore, N127.86 million is designated for procuring SUVs for the President and Vice President, while N285 million is allocated for the Chief of Staff’s vehicle purchases. The Chief Security Officer to the President will receive N179.63 million for security and operational vehicles.

Further details indicate that N2.12 billion has been allocated for honorarium and sitting allowances, along with a proposed N1.83 billion for constructing the office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
