Three Students Die in Fatal Accident on Ilisan-Ago Iwoye Road

Three students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye Road on Friday.

According to a statement released Saturday by Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the crash occurred around 3:30 PM. The students were passengers in a commercial Opel Safira that veered off the road and flipped into a nearby bush while being driven at high speed.

Odutola reported that a male passenger, believed to be a student of OOU, died at the scene, while two other female students were rushed to a private hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

The statement detailed, “A fatal motor accident took place on December 20, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM along the Ilisan-Ago Iwoye Road. The incident involved a commercial Opel Safira with the license plate Lagos AAA-126HE, driven by Adekunkle Adebiyi from 5 Sunmibare Street, Awa Ijebu.”

“The vehicle was speeding towards Ilisan when the driver lost control, causing it to overturn into the bushes. The identity of the deceased male passenger, believed to be an OOU student, is still unconfirmed; his body has been transported to the General Hospital Ijebu Ode mortuary.”

The two female victims were identified as Dada Oluwanifesimi, 18, a sophomore in Mass Communication, and Miracle Ogo Oluwa Daniel, 19, a junior. Both were taken to Love and Care Hospital but tragically did not survive their injuries.

Odutola added that two other OOU students with serious injuries are receiving treatment at the OOU Medical Centre. The vehicle involved in the accident has been retrieved and secured at the police station, with further updates promised as the situation develops.
