The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Rivers State has apprehended 90 foreigners accused of engaging in cybercrimes aimed at defrauding Nigerians.

The arrests, carried out with the help of other security agencies, followed credible intelligence that led authorities to the suspects’ hideout.

Rivers State Comptroller of Immigration, Y.I Abdulmajeed, stated that a total of 94 individuals were detained, comprising 85 Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians. Among them, 74 are males, and 20 are females.

Investigations revealed that all 90 foreign nationals entered the country through illegal routes and lacked valid residence permits or travel documents.

Additionally, two Nigerians from Rivers State, accused of harbouring the suspects, were also taken into custody.

Abdulmajeed confirmed that Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed that steps be taken to deport the foreigners back to their home countries.
