The Federal Government has installed surveillance and speed cameras on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, according to David Umahi, Minister of Works.
Speaking on Sunday at a stakeholder meeting on the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, Umahi revealed that CCTV cameras have been placed on and beneath the bridge, with plans for an official inauguration soon.
He also announced an extension of rehabilitation works to Falomo, where streetlights and additional surveillance cameras have been installed.
“Whatever you are doing on that stretch of Falomo to Third Mainland Bridge and the ramps, we are seeing you; it is on camera,” Umahi warned, adding that the footage is routed to Abuja for monitoring.
The minister cautioned drivers against excessive speeding, stating that while speed bumps could help, they might cause heavy traffic congestion on the bridge.
