Clarifies nightclub comment, says remarks were misunderstood
In a recent video, Senate President Godswill Akpabio was seen apologizing to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following their heated exchange in the red chambers. He insisted that his remarks were taken out of context and never meant to silence her.
Addressing the controversy, Akpabio explained that he was only reminding Natasha of Senate decorum, not dismissing her contributions.
“We’re not in a nightclub where people have to shout to cover the music,” he clarified, suggesting that the situation had been exaggerated.
With the apology offered and Natasha reclaiming her seat, it appears tensions in the Senate may be easing—at least for now.
