Water is the driving force of all nature and it’s footprint cannot be quantified for diverse are it’s usage and benefits in areas of drinking, cooking, cleaning, and growing crops. It is also used for transportation, generating power, in agriculture, industry, and tourism.
Sadly and unbelievably, over thirty years after it’s re-creation, Anambra does not have public water system in any of it’s vibrant cities not to talk of the communities.
Anambra South and the whole of Anambra have flowing water in forms of rivers, streams, spring and underground water. If crude oil and gas could be piped from Niger-Delta to the Northern parts of the country, how come that we cannot pipe ordinary portable water to the homes, industries, business premises and farmlands of Ndị Anambra South and Anambrarians!
After careful understudy of the root causes of the situation, Chinyelugo discovered that the challenges faced with respect to managing water resources are shortages of water in urban and rural areas due to competing water uses, lower level of irrigation potential, degrading watersheds and water courses, fragmented and uncoordinated water resources development, poor data and lack of cooperation of users in payment for water supplied.
To reverse this trend, Chinyelugo is coming with bills that will protect water resources from pollution and degradation; ensure access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene for Ndị Anambra South and Anambrarians; and regulate the use, management, and conservation of water resources.
Access to consistent water supply is assured with Chinyelugo!
