Alao-Akala, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also acknowledged the dedication of the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, in advancing the project.

Under President Tinubu’s leadership, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently awarded a N147.8 billion contract to Mssrs JRB Construction Co. Ltd to ensure the road’s completion.

During the 2024 Budget Performance Review and discussions on the 2025 Budget Proposal for the Ministry of Works on January 29, Alao-Akala raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the Oyo-Ogbomoso highway. He emphasized its critical role as one of Nigeria’s busiest roads, linking the northern and southern regions for trade and transportation.

He also noted that the road was not initially included in the ministry’s 2025 budget, raising fears about its future. Minister Umahi, in response, attributed the omission to budgetary constraints but assured that he would seek presidential intervention to address the issue.

Following the FEC’s approval, Alao-Akala expressed satisfaction, stating that his consistent advocacy had brought positive results. He reassured constituents that he would continue to oversee the project to ensure its timely completion.

He described the funding approval as a significant step toward enhancing infrastructure and boosting economic growth in the region.
