The 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey will make history by featuring a Super Bowl-style half-time show, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Wednesday.

Infantino confirmed that the highly anticipated final at MetLife Stadium will include an entertainment spectacle, marking the first time a FIFA World Cup final will have a dedicated half-time performance.

“I can confirm the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York/New Jersey,” Infantino wrote on Instagram. “This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.”

Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey will play a key role in selecting the artists for the performance, Infantino revealed. However, specific details regarding the show’s lineup and duration remain undisclosed.

The move mirrors last year’s Copa América final in Miami, where Colombian pop icon Shakira delivered a half-time performance at Hard Rock Stadium.

Infantino’s announcement came after a meeting with FIFA’s commercial and media partners in Dallas, as preparations intensify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

In addition to the half-time show, FIFA plans to “take over” New York’s Times Square during the final weekend, further elevating the tournament’s spectacle.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
