U.S Mission Urges Nigerian Authorities to Pursue Justice for Slain Priest in Kaduna

The United States Mission in Nigeria has expressed deep concern over the killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State.

Okechukwu, who was abducted on Tuesday, was later found dead. He was the pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tachira, Kaura Local Government Area.

The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed his tragic de@th on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on its X account on Friday, the US Mission strongly condemned the k+lling, describing it as a “br¥tal and sens+less” act of v+olence. The mission extended heartfelt condolences to the late priest’s family, congregation, and community, acknowledging the immense loss.

“We strongly condemn this horr+fic act of v+olence. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, congregation, and community of Father Okechukwu, who have suffered an immeasurable loss,” the statement read.

The US Mission further urged Nigerian authorities to ensure that those responsible for the k+lling are brought to justice.
