Nigerian-Canadian Artist TheHonestGuy Wins Big at Juno Awards

Ayodeji Mubarak, known as TheHonestGuy, a Nigerian singer and songwriter based in Canada, has achieved a significant milestone by winning the Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year award at the 54th Annual Juno Awards, Canada’s prestigious music ceremony. The awards, held on March 30, 2025, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, celebrated outstanding achievements in the Canadian music industry.

TheHonestGuy’s win highlights his soulful sound and musical talent, positioning him as a prominent figure in contemporary music. Many predict this accomplishment is a stepping stone to even greater success, potentially including a Grammy Award.

The Juno Awards, presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, featured other notable winners. Tate McRae was the night’s biggest winner, taking home four awards, including Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year. The Beaches won Group of the Year, while Nemahsis was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Bbno$ received the TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award.

Additionally, Sum 41 was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Anne Murray received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Boi-1da was honored with the International Achievement Award.
