Soludo’s Road to Re-Election: Can APGA Survive The Federal Might?

Politics, as they say, has no permanent friends—only permanent interests. And in the intricate chessboard of Nigerian politics, the coming Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election promises to be more than just a contest—it will be payback time.

Many insiders are whispering what others are beginning to shout, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not forgotten. In the heat of the 2023 presidential election, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, openly supported PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar over the APC candidate, who eventually emerged victorious. Now, some believe it is Tinubu’s turn to return the favor—with political consequences.

Recently, a narrative began making rounds suggesting that the APC deliberately fielded a “weak candidate” in Anambra to give Prof. Soludo an easy ride.

This theory claims there was a deal to produce a weak candidate like Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma) to ensure APGA’s continued hold on the state. But let’s get this straight: Evang. Nicholas Ukachukwu is not and has never been a weak candidate.

Ukachukwu—Nwoke bu cash—is a grassroots mobilizer, a wealthy man of the people, and a politician with both the resources and political experience to turn the tide. He will give Soludo a real run for his money in this race. If the APC is serious about reclaiming influence in the Southeast, Ukachukwu is the man to bet on.

Come October 2025, don’t be surprised when the political tide begins to shift. Stakeholders will begin defecting, political alliances will shatter, and many who once stood with Soludo will realign with Ukachukwu—a man many believe can deliver Anambra to Tinubu in 2027.

Despite the coming political onslaught, despite the supposed federal backing and underground moves, Soludo is poised to win again. APGA is more than just a political party in Anambra—it is an identity. It is the last standing Igbo-rooted political structure, and it remains the solid rock in Igboland.

Yes, Tinubu might want to settle scores, and yes, Ukachukwu has the muscle to wage war, but Soludo has the structure, the performance record, and the emotional connection with the people. His reforms, policies, and vision for Anambra have not gone unnoticed.

So let the political battles begin. Let Tinubu attempt his payback. Let Ukachukwu bring the fire. But one truth stands unshaken: APGA remains the lion of the Southeast jungle, and Soludo may still dance to victory come November 2025.
