The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has distanced itself from the planned nationwide protest tagged Take-It-Back, warning it could escalate tensions and threaten national stability.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Kaduna, NYCN President, Isah Abubakar, acknowledged the frustrations of Nigerian youths but urged for restraint and peaceful engagement instead of street protests.
“We understand the grievances behind the protest, but Nigeria’s fragile socio-political climate demands caution,” he said, adding that past protests like EndSARS were hijacked by hoodlums, resulting in destruction and loss of lives.
The council emphasized dialogue and civic engagement as safer and more productive alternatives. It pledged to work with relevant authorities to ensure youth voices are heard constructively, calling for patience and unity in the quest for national progress.
