A private car fell off the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Monday, triggering panic among commuters and onlookers.
Reports indicate that the vehicle had four occupants at the time of the accident, all of whom sustained varying degrees of injuries. However, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in a statement on X, confirmed only that the driver was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“Report of an accident of a car that fell from Otedola Bridge. The driver has been rescued and taken to the nearby hospital,” the statement read.
The incident caused heavy traffic, with LASTMA noting a backlog stretching from Otedola Bridge to Berger, inward Secretariat. Officers were deployed to manage the situation and ease congestion.
The crash occurred near the same location where a gas-laden truck explosion claimed at least six lives just weeks ago, raising renewed concerns over road safety on the notorious stretch.
