President Tinubu Declares April 7 as National Police Day

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially declared April 7 of every year as National Police Day in Nigeria, to honour the gallant officers of the Nigeria Police Force—both those who have paid the supreme price and those still serving the nation with courage and commitment.

The announcement was made at the maiden edition of the National Police Day celebration held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, which marked the climax of the 2025 Police Week. Representing the President at the event, Vice President Kashim Shettima delivered the President’s message, restating the administration’s unwavering commitment to building a Nigeria Police Force that is “well-trained, well-motivated, and well-equipped” with modern tools and technology to effectively combat crime across the country. He made this known on his Facebook page just minutes ago.

President Tinubu emphasized that strengthening the Police Force is necessary to ensure that Nigeria’s security agencies remain “steps ahead of those who threaten the peace, welfare, and prosperity” of the nation.
