To help check the wave of perennial insecurity in the country, a Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has charged President Bola Tinubu to call a meeting with the Nigeria Police.
He said the meeting must focus on devising ways to stem the tide of insecurity in the country.
Falana made this known during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today. “Tinubu should call a meeting of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF,” said Falana.
Meanwhile, Falana described calls for state police as diversionary, saying, “there are fears that such (creation of state police) will be misused as a tool for political fights if created.”
Since his assumption of office last year May, the activities of armed non-state actors have been on the increase with hundreds killed and properties worth millions of naira displaced.
