The students of FUTA have closed down the university in objection to the school management’s decision to raise their tuition fees by 100%.

The school management recently issued a new fee schedule for the upcoming academic session of 2023/2024.

According to the released schedule, the tuition fees for new students have been increased from N108,000 to N240,000, while for returning students, the fees have been raised from N29,000 to N131,000.

In response to these sudden hikes, the students peacefully protested and consequently shut down the campus.

The protest caused heavy traffic on the Akure-Ilesha road, leading to some drivers having to turn back.

Unfortunately, FUTA’s spokesperson, Adegbenro Adebanjo, was unavailable for comment at the time of this report.
