After the final polls closed, it was projected that Donald Trump, the former President, would emerge as the winner of the New Hampshire primary, defeating his last major rival for the Republican Party nomination, Nikki Haley.
This victory in New Hampshire, following his win in Iowa, makes Trump the first non-incumbent Republican candidate in modern times to achieve this feat.
Trump secured 54.2% of the votes, with a total of 146,577, while Haley received 43.7%, with a total of 118,027 votes.
As a former two-term South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador in Trump’s administration, Haley congratulated him on his victory and acknowledged that the race is not yet over, as she prepares for the upcoming primary in her home state next month.
Although the final results were still being calculated, Trump maintained a single-digit lead over Haley.
This victory in the New Hampshire primary adds to Trump’s historical significance as the first former President to achieve such a feat last year.
Trump made history last year as the first former or current president to be indicted for a crime.
However, his four indictments have only fueled his support among Republican voters.
