A police investigation report has revealed that Mrs Trinitas Chiamaka Ilechukwu did not die of domestic violence.

In June 2023, social media was awash with the news of the death of the late Mrs Ilechukwu, which was alleged to be as a result of domestic violence meted out to her by her husband, Mr Ilechukwu.

However, according to a police report obtained by Punch,  the husband did not unleash domestic violence on his late wife. The report stated that the mother-of-two had liposuction surgery on the 25th of May 2023, at Realign Aesthetic Clinic Enugu. Chiamaka reportedly went back home weak and tired on the 30th of May 2023 and was re-admitted at the same Clinic on the 2nd of June 2023 due to abdominal pain.  It further disclosed that Dr. Okoye of Realign Aesthetic Clinic attended to her until 7th June 2023, when he referred her to Niger Foundation Hospital Enugu. She died the next day, 8th June 2023.

The police report added that the death report of Mrs Chiamaka Trinitas Ilechukwu Okafor from Niger Foundation Hospital Enugu, dated 12th June 2023, revealed that she passed on due to Disseminated Intravascular Coagulopathy. DIC is mainly a severe case of septicemia (sepsis) infection which leads to excessive bleeding from all sites. The medical certificate of cause of death also stated the secondary cause of death as “Peritoneal Abscess,” a collection of pus/fluid in her lower abdomen which was the concentration area of the liposuction.

In an interview with Punch, the husband said he was the one who took care of his wife all throughout that ordeal. This was despite the fact that the plans of the liposuction surgery were hidden from the husband and carried out without his knowledge and consent.

The husband said he was so devastated and actually trying to unravel exactly what happened to his wife that he never bothered about the false stories about him on social media.
