The Abia State Police Command has dismissed three officers—Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi, Corporal James Daniel, and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka—for their involvement in abduction, extortion, and conspiracy. The disgraced officers have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution, alongside their civilian accomplices.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the officers were arrested on January 29, 2025, after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abayi caught them in possession of an electric baton, an ass@ult rifle, and a Beretta pistol.

Investigations revealed they hired a minibus, abducted civilians along the Port Harcourt Expressway, and extorted them, demanding additional payments from the victims’ families before releasing them.

After an orderly room trial, the officers were found guilty of serious misconduct and were officially dismissed on February 7, 2025. Their police gear was retrieved, and they are no longer part of the force.

Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for corruption, warning that unethical behavior will not be condoned. He emphasized the Inspector General’s vision of a professional, law-abiding police force dedicated to public service.

The officers now face prosecution, as the force continues efforts to restore trust and integrity in policing.
